What I Specialize In

Deep expertise across Ireland's most significant walking destinations

Cliffs of Moher Paths

Detailed guides to the treacherous coastal routes along County Clare's most dramatic cliffs. I've documented safe passages, seasonal hazards, and the geological heritage that makes these walks unforgettable.

Dublin Bay Coastal Walks

Gentle strolls and serious hikes around Dublin's bay system. From Howth Head to Dun Laoghaire, I've mapped routes that combine urban accessibility with genuine coastal beauty.

Wicklow Mountain Routes

Progressive trail guides for all fitness levels. My Wicklow field guide became the standard reference for outdoor educators — covering everything from beginner valleys to serious ridge walks.

Wild Atlantic Way Sections

Curated walking segments along Ireland's most famous coastal route. Not the whole 1,600 kilometers — the sections worth your time, with navigation advice and cultural context.

Educational Resources

Research-backed content for educators, students, and serious walkers. I translate landscape interpretation and heritage conservation into accessible guides you can actually use.

Trail Navigation & Safety

Practical navigation guidance for each route. Weather patterns, seasonal hazards, best times to walk, and what gear actually matters on Irish terrain.

Professional Journey

How I Got Here

I grew up in County Cork, and I've got my grandfather to thank for this whole path. He was a retired shepherd, and some of my best childhood memories are walks along the Beara Peninsula with him. That's where the obsession started — I was maybe seven or eight, and he'd point out things I'd never noticed: how the landscape changed, why certain paths existed, what the old stone walls meant.

In 2008, I finished my degree in Geography and Environmental Studies at University College Cork. I wasn't interested in sitting in an office, so I took a role with the Irish Tourism Board as a landscape consultant. That job let me do what I actually wanted — get out on the trails and document them properly. Over six years, I logged more than 200 walking routes across nine counties. No shortcuts, no copying other guides. Real fieldwork.

The breakthrough came in 2015. I'd spent two years obsessing over the Wicklow Mountains — walking every major ridge, every valley route, every alternative path. When I published the field guide, it just connected with people. Educators started using it as their standard reference. Serious hikers trusted it because I wasn't selling them anything — I was just sharing what I'd actually learned on the ground.

That's when fleurdelishotels Limited approached me to lead their walking routes content. Over the past six years, I've focused entirely on creating detailed, accessible guides to Ireland's most significant walking destinations. The Cliffs of Moher paths are treacherous in ways people don't always understand. Dublin Bay has gentle walks most tourists never find. Wicklow's got routes for every fitness level, and the Wild Atlantic Way is huge — so I focus on the sections that actually matter.

I've now walked over 8,000 kilometers across Irish terrain. Every article I write comes from that lived experience. Not theory. Not borrowed content. Real time on real trails, in real weather, figuring out what actually works and what doesn't.

My Philosophy

Why My Guides Are Different

Accuracy First

Every route I describe, I've walked multiple times in different seasons. Conditions change. Weather patterns matter. I document what you'll actually encounter, not what sounds good in a marketing copy.

Safety as Standard

Irish trails can be genuinely dangerous. Cliff edges, bog crossings, sudden weather changes. I don't hide the hazards — I explain them clearly so you can make informed decisions and walk prepared.

Heritage Context

These trails aren't just geography. They're connected to Irish history, geology, ecology, and culture. I weave that context into the guides so you understand what you're actually walking through.

Accessible to Everyone

Not every walk is a challenge. I've created guides for complete beginners through to serious mountain walkers. Each route's documented so you know exactly what you're getting into before you start.
